O presente trabalho identifica inicialmente os fatores que afetam o consumo de combustível veicular oriundos do veículo automotor, do motor a combustão interna, da transmissão e do meio ambiente. Os fatores provenientes do motor a combustão e da transmissão, são associados com as últimas iniciativas técnicas desenvolvidas com o objetivo de reduzir o consumo de combustível veicular. Com o conhecimento destas variáveis e das alternativas técnicas existentes para minimizar seus efeitos contrários ao melhor consumo de combustível, é proposta uma metodologia de análise ponderada e julgamento de viabilidade de projeto utilizando como cenários: o nível de desenvolvimento, tempo de desenvolvimento, alteração de conceito ou estrutura, custo de engenharia, investimento, competitividade e intercambialidade. O resultado desta análise é apresentado na forma gráfica. Vários cenários técnicos são simulados utilizando a metodologia, assim como é feita a comparação destes cenários demonstrando como deve ser conduzida a aprovação de proposta técnica que tenha por objetivo reduzir o consumo de combustível veicular.

This report initially identifies the factors whose affects vehicle fuel consumption derived from the vehicle itself, from the internal combustion engine, from the transmission and the environment. The factors from the combustion engine and transmission are being associated with the last worldwide initiatives developed with the objective to minimize the vehicle fuel consumption. With the knowledge of these variables and with the existing technical alternatives to minimize the unfavourable consequences for the best fuel consumption, it is being proposed a project viability weighted methodology of analysis and judgement by means of the following parameters: development level, development timing, concept or structure change, engineering cost, investment and interchange ability. The result of this analysis is presented in a graphic way. Technical scenarios are simulated with the methodology, as well its comparison demonstrating how a technical proposal approval with the objective to minimize fuel consumption shall be conducted.
