Abstract in English
The new technologies employed today in the development of the internal combustion engines have established a paradox in the auto industry. While the internal combustion engine manufactures have been focused to obtain more power and torque from smaller engine, taking advantage of the latest technologies to become the internal combustion more efficient, almost nothing have been developed in terms of vibration control. The industry still employs concepts developed almost one century ago, the elastometric dampers, to control crankshaft torsional vibration. The consequences for the rest of the drive train components may be catastrophic if a better understanding about how this sudden increase in engine power and torque may influence the life of the others drive train components. This paper attempts to make and introductory approach of the torsional vibration effects over commercial vehicles drive trains.
