Abstract in English
The purpose of this report is to show the usage of Six Sigma concept and DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) to improve the "5 Steps Process" which is used by General Motors do Brasil to identify and solve the problems raised during the Pilot Run of a new automotive project. During this project implementation phase, the short response time for a detected problem is very important to assure the quality of this new product during its launching to the market. However, as stated in this study, some problems take a very long time to have their solutions implemented. The data used in this report are real and were gathered by the author on the first six months of 2002, during the Pilot Run of a new Chevrolet's product to be launched soon. The results of this study based on the Six Sigma concept and on the DMAIC methodology, as well as, improvement proposals are presented in this report.
