Abstract in English
Logistical outsourcing is already a reality across the globe. Several companies outsource some activity in search of benefit or operational needs. The goal of this dissertation is to identify and evaluate which are the relevant criterias and factors for contracting an outsourced logistics service for Brazilian industries, based on medium to large companies profile. The research provides understanding across a broad spectrum, by assessing both economic and cultural factors, external agents and logistical performance together from the perspective of the contractor, who is the decision maker. To investigate interaction between the constructs, a model of structural equations was proposed in order to understand which were the relevant criteria in logistical outsourcing. The data was obtained through a survey of 125 managers of Brazilian companies in the industrial sector. It was observed that the cultural factor construct has a high effect on logistical performance, standing out as the primary construct. Other constructs are also decisive when contracting the service, but the cultural factor has the highest influence, highlighting several criteria that shed light on the importance of its' management for contractees and contractors. This study contributes to the understanding of the dynamics of the factors relevant to the logistics outsourcing decision.
