Abstract in English
This technical paper presents construction methods of tunnels within a criticval vision of safety margin, durability and cost of the concrete revetments. Various procedures are normally used by tunnel markers, and they are either revalidatred or criticised from the point of view of the minimum durability and staking that are necessary for tunnels. It also gives full account, chronologically, of the interplay among tunnel designers, geologists and conrte technologists during the last twenty years, that madse it possible to obtain great technological improvements in the tunnel construction field of activity, such as the usde of low permeability conventional concrete, and shotcrete. The paper also records the first and pionner steps of Brazilian engineering in the use of shotcrete as a revetment of tunnels excavated in soil, with the NATM method. From the durability point of view, it proposes an analysis of the test methodologies and their respective limits normally specified, and makes a comparative evaluation of the performance of several tunnels presently in use. The knoeledge acquired through the critical consolidation of the recommended technologies and practices employed in the two past decades was associated with a research that was specially planned to identify new potentials of the shotcrete material, that allow to propose a new specifications of shotcrete for tunnels. It also provides subsides for detemining the cost of tunnels revetments, in order to improve the quality of decision for selecting construction methods.
