Geotecnica
Resistência dos solos

Evaluation of the stress history and undrained shear strength of marine clays through CPTu.

Abstract in English
Piezocone penetration test (CPTu) data can be used for site characterization and soil profiling and for obtaining a set of important engineering parameters for geotechnical analysis and projects. The study presents comparisons between calculation methods proposed for the estimation of pre-consolidation pressure and undrained shear strength from CPTu data. Several of these methodologies have been recently published and will be applied to the marine clays of the Santos Coastal Plain (Baixada Santista), Scotland and Sweden, helping to validate the practical applications of the various methods. It is intended to verify if these applications are consistent with each other and with the stress history of these soils. The methodologies of Mayne (2016), Mayne (2017), Odebrecht and Schnaid (2018) and Futai (2021) will be evaluated in comparison with Massads Method (2009, 2010, 2016), extensively applied in clays of Santos Coastal Plain. The results will be compared with available laboratory and field test data.
