Este trabalho apresenta um estudo de aspectos referentes a geologia, geomorfologia e intemperismo que devem ter influenciado as atuais características tanto de superfície como de subsuperfície do relevo de idade pré-cambriana do leste paulista. Apresenta-se um estudo sobre a evolução tectônica terciária da área pré-cambriana, ressaltando-se as relações existentes entre os eventos tectônicos, evolução geomorfológica do relevo e perfis de intemperismo referentes a uma grande área representada pela zona geomorfológica do Planalto Paulistano, Finalmente, faz-se considerações conclusivas a respeito dos estudos sobre o contexto de origem e das características gerais observadas nos perfis estudados. Com base nesses estudos, sugere-se a existência de perfis típicos em áreas do pré-cambriano paulista, assim como, um roteiro de atividades de escritório e campo, que possibilitam a identificação de perfis similares.

his paper presentes a study on aspects referring to geology, geomorphology and weathering that must have influenced the actual characteristics nort only of the surfasse but, also, the subsurface of the physical relief covering the State od São Paulo, composed of land formed in the Pre-Cambrian Age. This study treats the Tertiary Eras tectonic evolution of the Pre-Cambrian aream highlighting the relationship existing between the tectonic events, geomorphological evolution of the releif and the weathering profiles of a large área, encompassing the geomorphological zone of the Planalto Paulistano.
