Keywords in Portuguese

Distorção harmônica
Filtros passivos
Qualidade de energia
Sistemas de potência

Abstract in English
In recent years, with the increasing development and reduction in the cost of active filters to mitigate harmonic distortions, the traditional solution based on passive filters has come to be criticized and even neglected. This dissertation aims to demonstrate that the use of passive filters could be the a good solution, from a technical and economic point of view, particularly in continuous process industrial plants, where the demand for electrical energy has a more stable behavior. The typical behavior of these installations cover one of the biggest disadvantages of the passive filter, which is precisely due to problems in the effectiveness of mitigation caused by the variation in demand for electrical energy and, consequently, impedance of the electrical system.
