Abstract in English
It is estimated that 2.78 million people die every year from accidents at work and work-related illnesses. Although it is a relevant problem in educational institutions, accidents at work are not widely studied in this context. In order to prevent accidents from happening, risks can be controlled. Thereby, the present research proposed that the problem of accidents at work to be treated from the perspective of risk management, adopting a systemic approach of identification, analysis, evaluation, treatment and monitoring, and control of the risks of accidents at work. The main objective of the study was, therefore, to propose a framework for the management of occupational accident risks in organizations. Through a literature review and a bibliometric analysis, critical success factors for risk management were identified, most of them generic or applied in a context other than occupational health. With that, six propositions were proposed, which were verified through analysis of documents and interviews of five higher-educational institutions. In conclusion, from the point of view of occupational health and safety professionals, the critical success factors: top management support, worker participation, risk communication and training are important for the reduction of accidents in organizations.
