Abstract in English
In front of the scenario of degradation of natural resources from industrialization, there was the emergence of an alternative model to the traditional linear economy, the Circular Economy. The concept has had increasing interest from the Academy, being applied by both government and companies. This paper investigates the circularity practices applied by companies from the product life cycle and the coordination (or governance) mechanisms used in the adoption of this practices. For the empirical part, in-depth interviews were conducted with six organizations of different sizes and economic sectors. Results indicate that collaboration is the predominant coordination mechanism. For some companies interviewed, even supposedly highly central and specific activities that, according to the literature, would be internalized, are done through collaboration. There was a strong emphasis on activities that promote greater articulation between economic agents in a Circular Economy scenario. And these articulations are made through collaboration. Another highlight was new circularity activities that emerged from the empirical study such as the importance of consumer awareness and information dissemination. We can see the importance that companies give in making consumers understand the importance of their activities in the exercise of giving greater value to their actions.
