Este trabalho descreve a utilização de aços inoxidáveis austeníticos na fabricação de vareta combustível para reatores nucleares. Dois materiais foram observados: AISI 304L e 348. O objetivo é a qualificação da solda do tubo e tampão do mesmo material. O processo utilizado foi o TIG autógeno, sendo estudadas a influência de vários fatores: gás de proteção, corrente e comprimento do arco. As soldas foram avaliadas com a realização de testes destrutivos e não destrutivos.

Abstract in English
This dissertation describes the austenitic stainless steel clad fuel rod for nuclear reactors. Two materials have been observed: AISI 304L and 348. The target is the qualification of welds of pipe to end plugs of the same alloy. The TIG process of welding was used. The influence of several welding parameters were studied: inert gas, current and arc length. The welds were evaluated with the aid of destructive and non destructive tests.
