Abstract in English
This abstract presents a simulation model for the analysis of rules for the berthing of ships in container terminals. It deals with a specific model, elaborated from the analysis of real data concerning the arrival of container carriers from a terminal that is specialized in containers at the port of Santos. An aims at indicating which time window berthing is the best one to be offered by the terminal to the shipowner, considering a total cost system of in-line ships. Preliminarily, a presentation of the evolution of the transportation of containers by sea is held, through the evolution of international trade and the adequacy of the sea industry to the growth of vessels and its impact on container terminals. A bibliographic review was performed aiming at showing the scenarios where the model fits into and a critical analysis of the methods developed. This analysis seeks to demonstrate the best time window berthing to be offered to the shipowner, for a determined arrival pattern by the container terminal. And at the end of this research it is recommended the best time window berthing to be offered to the shipowner by the terminal so as to minimize costs according to the kind of distribution.
