O presente trabalho trata dos aspectos relevantes ao projeto de conversão de plataformas semi-submersíveis. Os procedimentos e critérios aplicados na conversão de plataformas semi-submersíveis tem, sempre no possível, o objetivo de viabilizar e compartilhar aspectos referentes a diversas disciplinas da engenharia oceânica, aspectos estes que, por muitas vezes são até antagônicos. O trabalho será abordado através da proposição de uma espiral de projeto e seu desenvolvimento se fará pela análise geral e aprofundamento em algumas destas etapas da espiral. A fim de mostrar a validade dos critérios apresentados nesta discussão, a análise será elucidada através de cálculos efetuados para a plataforma semi-submersível Petrobrás XIII(PBXIII). A PBXIII é uma plataforma de prospecção que está sendo estudada para conversão pela Petrobrás.

This work presents general procedures for semi-submersible platform conversion from drilling to production services. The main goal of these criteria, if possible, is to reduce the platform heave motion making possible the use of rigid risers and Christmas tree from the platform main deck. The approach was made using the design spiral development proposed by The American Bureau of Shipping. To validate the approach adopted some we made some calculations on a Brazilian semisubmersible platform, Petrobrás XIII, which has been converted from a prospection to a production platform.
