Navios (Projeto)

Ships (Project)
Abstract in English
This study is concerned with the formulation of a design procedure for small size vessels to be used in the first steps of the preliminary ship design. The methodology is based partly on analytical studies developed for this type of ships, with special emphasis on multipurpouse vessels for coastwise navigation. In order to evaluate the hydrodynamic hull characteristics the following ship model tests were conducted-ship resistance, stream-lines determination, self propulsion, wave analysis and seakeeping experiments. A computer program, wich incorporates the proposed methodology, is applied to a given transportation problem providing the ship designer with a valuable tool to determine, us a fast way, the ship configurations which are both technically feasible and economically efficient; this model permits also to determine the sensitivity of the optimal solution with respect to changes in the operational parameters.
