Keywords in Portuguese
Mina subterrânea
Mineração

Mining simulation as an operational management tool in underground mining small.

Validation of the mining plan
Abstract in English
The use of dynamic simulation in the mining planning allows greater assertiveness and accuracy of the mining plan, which can promote changes in the vision of companies on the daily management of mine operation. Cost of acquisition, training and data collection are the main reasons presented by companies, mainly small / medium sized companies, not to use dynamic simulation. However, costs have been falling in recent decades with the advancement of information gathering and modeling technology. In addition, the gains from assertive and accurate planning can outweigh the costs. The present study is based on the application of dynamic simulation in an underground non-ferrous metal mine located in the northwest of Minas Gerais, in order to validate the mining plan. Operational information was collected as the performance indicators on the productive development fronts for three months. The methodology of current mining collection was also analyzed. In order to improve the indicators and methodology that are calculated, we used the simulation of the unit operations of the productive development plan in a specialized platform. It is expected that from the simulation it is possible to know more about the system, critical points and propose solutions, allowing to validate the mining plan in comparison with the simulated data and to suggest adjustments in the execution of the operations.
