Keywords in Portuguese
Balanço de massa
Bauxita - Juruti(PA)
Processamento de minerais industriais

Abstract in English
Two sampling campaigns were carried in the industrial bauxite washing circuit, located in Juruti, PA. The circuit is made of crushing, scrubbing wash, screening, cyclone sorting and filtration steps. Mass and Metallurgical balances were obtained, and mathematical models were calibrated with the assistance of JKSimMet simulator, in order to allow a current and detailed diagnosis of each stage of the process and to allow the simulation performances. The objective was to present scenarios which allow identifying improvement opportunities for the beneficiation circuit performance index, as well as necessary interventions to include capacity increases, keeping the same product quality levels. Considering the stipulated increase in flow rate, the identified attention points in the simulations were: (a) washing efficiency, in the face of a consequent reduction in the residence time connected with the change of the ore characteristic fed to the plant, (b) capacity of primary and secondary screens and (c) classification efficiencies. Performance indexes of each unit operation marked the stage of selection of alternatives in the direction of increasing the efficiency of the existing equipment, as well as the addition of new equipment and re-planning those existing ones. Simulated scenarios were followed by mass recovery figures and washed product quality estimates.
