Os revestimentos de moinhos de bolas desempenham duas funções principais no processo de moagem: proteger a carcaça do ambiente agressivo que ocorre no interior do moinho e transmitir energia à carga de bolas. Diante disso, a otimização tem, portanto, o desafio de prolongar a vida útil do perfil e otimizar o desempenho do moinho. Algumas características do revestimento, como relação A/B e altura de lifter, são extremamente relevantes na eficiência do processo de moagem. Por meio da análise do histórico das variáveis de processo e com auxílio de simulações DEM, esses parâmetros foram otimizados no revestimento do moinho W, localizado na usina de concentração de Vazante. A otimização proporcionou redução da variabilidade da potência entre o período final e inicial da vida útil do revestimento e, como consequência, maior estabilidade da capacidade de processamento do circuito no período pós-troca.

Ball mill liners perform two main functions in grinding process: to protect the mill shell from the aggressive ball mill environment and to deliver input power to the charge. When it comes to liners optimization, the challenge are to extend its life and improve grinding performance. Some liners characteristics such as A / B ratio, lifters number and lifter height are extremely relevant to the grinding process. By analyzing process data, and through DEM simulations application, these parameters were improved on W-mill liner, located at Vazante concentration plant. The new profile promoted a reduction of power variability between the final and the initial life cicle intervals and, therefore, a better stability to the circuit operation.
