Abstract in English
This work describes the study of contractions for uniform steady flow generation in Wind tunnels. It was shown general aspects of subsonic Wind tunnels, the procedures for uniform steady flow generation and techniques for contraction design. The main purpose of this work was to develop the numerical and experimental and numerical methods for evaluation of contractions, that could be applied to any contraction. Four contractions with the same inlet and outlet dimensions and length, generated by diferente techniques, were analyzed. It was evalluated numerically the potential velocity distribution inside the contractions and near the walls, to verify the development adverse pressure gradientes. The boundary layer at the symmetry line of contraction wall was also evaluated numerically, to check for flow separations. Finally, an experimental analysis of a concentraction model also was made. The velocity profile in the outlet of the contraction and the turbulence level at symmetry line were measured, to check the numerical simulations.
