Abstract in English
The aim of this work is to determine the operating conditions to perform microholes in metal plates by the penetrating EDM process though a conventional machine. Essays have been made to confirm the operating adjustments theoretically described. Two arrangements were constructed: a mechanical aligner and an optical/mechanical gauge. The electrodes were conceived in a cooper/silver alloy of 0.1 mm average diameter. The work pieces were made of ABNT 1010 steel, 2.4 mm thick, making up the relationship 1:24 between the diameter and the depth of the hole. Concerning the EDM equipment, a machine model RTP 500 produced by Resitron Enterprise was used without any particular adaptation of its electrical circuits.
