O controle de compressores centrífugos envolve problemas, instabilidade em baixa vazão e limites de rotação. Normalmente estes equipamentos são controlados por malhas de controladores PID conjugados por override. O DMC é um algorítmo de controle com modelo preditivo que tem encontrado emprego crescente na indústria. O modelo usado pelo DMC é fácil de levantar e a execução do algoritmo, que apresenta uma forma fechada, é rápida. Porém não é possível implementar restrições de maneira direta no DMC. Neste trabalho, desenvolvemos o modelo de uma instalação com um compressor centrífugo, apresentamos uma maneira de implementar restrições no DMC, aplicamos o DMC com restrições no modelo da instalação, aplicamos também o PID com override no modelo da instalação e comparamos o desempenho do DMC com o do PID.

Surge and rotational speed limits are problems in controlling centrifugal compressor. Usually these equipments are controlled by override integrated PID loops. DMC is a model predictive control algorithm which has been increasingly used in industry. The model used by DMC is easily obtainable and to execute the algorithm, which has a closed form, is fast. But to implement restrictions in a straighforwardm way in DMC is impossible. In this work, the modelo f a plant having a centrifugal compressor is developed, a method for implementing restrictions in DMC is presented, the DMC with restrictions is applied in the plant model, override integrated PID is applied in the plant model too, and DMC performance is compared with PIDs.
