O impacto ambiental associado aos processos de conversão de energia é hoje uma preocupação mundial devido às mudanças drásticas nos ecossistemas do planeta, provocadas por diversos fenômenos atmosféricos que surgem como resultado de tal impacto. Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal avaliar o impacto ambiental dos processos de conversão de energia a partir dos dados gerados pela análise exergética, calculando e aplicando índices de impacto ambiental para diferentes tipos de processos. Neste trabalho propõe-se a eficiência exergética como um índice de impacto ambiental, que compreende os aspectos de rendimento energético e impacto ambiental dos processos de conversão de energia. Além da eficiência exergética ambiental é usada a taxa de poluição total para avaliar o impacto ambiental destes processos. Para testar o método proposto, foram levantados dados na literatura e a partir deles os parâmetros de impacto ambiental foram calculados. Finalmente, foi aplicada a metodologia da análise do impacto ambiental a duas Estações de Tratamento de Esgoto. A análise dos resultados mostrou que este método pode ser usado para quantificar o desempenho ambiental e, posteriormente, ser empregado como uma função objetivo para otimizar o desempenho ambiental dos processos.

The environmental impact associated to the energy conversion processes is, nowadays, a world concern due to the drastic changes in our planet ecosystems, caused by some atmospheric phenomena that arise as result of that impact. This work evaluates the environmental impact of the energy conversion processes based on data generated by the exergetic analysis, calculating and applying environmental impact indexes for different types of processes. In this work it is proposed the exergetic efficiency as an environmental impact index that contains the aspects of energetic efficiency and environmental impact of the energy conversion processes. Besides the environmental exergetic efficiency it is used the total pollution rate to evaluate the environmental impact of these processes. To test the proposed method, were data lifted up in the literature and starting from them the environmental impact parameters were calculated. Finally, the methodology of the environmental impact analysis was applied to two Wastewater Treatment Plants. The analysis of the results have shown that this method can be used to quantify the environmental performance and, later, to be used as an objective function to optimize the environmental performance of the processes.
