Usinagem

Abstract in English
This work treats about machining conditions determination, with cutting speed optimization, through an Expert System, implemented with Artificial Intelligence techniques. The application field is based in production environments that bring together, total or partially, the following characteristics: a) large batches of parts (many cutting edges are consumed); b) batches of parts that consume at least one cutting edge, with great intermittence; c) the machine is not considered a restricting issue in the process. The cutting speed optimization method is based on the analysis of the maximum production speed, which has been considered sufficient for the choice of the optimum cutting speed.
