Em alguns casos o efeito termodinâmico pode exercer grande influência sobre o valor do NPSH requerido por uma bomba, principalmente para bombas operando com fluidos que não a água fria. São apresentados quatro métodos para se estimar a redução do NPSH requerido por uma bomba operando com vários fluídos. Estes métodos são a teoria do preenchimento, método de Ruggeri e Moore, equação de Fruman e Beuzelin, e método de Stepanoff. É feita uma comparação entre os resultados obtidos com cada um dos métodos empregados e também com os medidos por outros autores. Em geral, os resultados não apresentam grande discrepância entre si, porém o método que mais se aproximou dos resultados experimentais foi o de Stepanoff.

In some situations the Thermodynamic Effect can have a great influence in the net positive suction head (NPSH) required for a pump, specially for pumps handling liquids other than cold water. Four methods are presented here to estimate the reduction in the NPSH required for a pump handling various fluids. These methods are: Entrainment Theory, method of Ruggeri and Moore, equation of Fruman and Beuzelin and method of Stepanoff. The results obtained for NPSH adjustments are presented and a comparison is made with other authors results. In general, the results dont differ much from each other. The method of STEPANOFF was the one that gave the best agrément with experimental data.
