O presente trabalho avalia a poluição ambiental produzida por usinas termelétricas, com enfoque na poluição atmosférica, sendo desenvolvido através do Estudo de Caso de uma usina operando em ciclo combinado. A modelagem para a estimativa da qualidade do ar é efetuada com o modelo gaussiano ISC-ST - "Industrial Source Complex - Short Term" - versão 3, referendado pela "Environmental Protection Agency" dos Estados Unidos - USEPA. São feitas estimativas de taxas de emissão de poluentes, a partir dos fatores de emissão constantes no "Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors, Volume 1-Stationary Point and Areas Sources. Publication No. AP-42 da USEPA". A caracterização do relevo da região de influência é efetuada através de arquivo topográfico, no formato ASCII, gerado a partir de plantas topográficas, divididas em quadriculas contendo as coordenadas cartesianas e a máxima altitude. Como dados meteorológicos, utilizam-se arquivos, no formato ASC II, obtidos de dados da estação meteorológica do Aeroporto de Congonhas (número 83780, da rede mundial de meteorologia), relativos aos anos de 1997 e 1998, compatíveis com os dados utilizados por empresa Consultora, em estudo de dispersão efetuado anteriormente. Da análise das curvas de isoconcentração para os diversos poluentes estudados são identificadas as regiões mais críticas, quanto à alteração da qualidade do ar. São analisadas as concentrações nos mesmos receptores discretos analisados pela Consultora. O trabalho é concluído através de uma análise crítica dos resultados, objetivando contribuir com a área acadêmica e com os órgãos ambientais.

The present work evaluates the environmental pollution produced by power plants, with focus in the atmospheric pollution, being developed through the Study of Case of a power plant operating in combined cycle. The simulation for the estimate of the air quality is performed with the gaussian model ISC-ST - "Industrial Source Complex" - "Short Term" - version 3, referenced by " Environmental Protection Agency" of the United States - USEPA. Estimates are done for the rates of pollutants emission, starting from the constant emission factors in the "Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors, Volume 1-Stationary Point and Areas Sources. Publication No. AP-42 of USEPA". The relief's characterization of the influence area is made through topographical file, in the format ASCII, generated through topographical plants, divided in squares contends the Cartesians coordinates and the maximum altitude. Like meteorological data, files are used, in the format ASC II, obtained of data of the meteorological station in the Congonhas's Airport (number 83780, of the world net of meteorology), relative to the years of 1997 and 1998, compatible with the data used by the Consultant. Of the analysis of the same concentration curves for the several studied pollutants are identified the most critical areas, with relationship to the alteration of the air quality. The concentrations are analyzed in the same discreet receivers analyzed by the Consultant. The work is concluded through a critical analysis of the results; objectiving to contribute with the academic area and with the environment organs.
