Keywords in Portuguese
Capitalismo de stakeholder
Comunicação organizacional
História e memória empresarial
Novas narrativas
Responsabilidade social e ambiental

Organizational narratives and their impact: study of Larry Fink's letters to CEOs

Abstract in English
In a scenario where humanity faces uncertain consequences brought about by climate change and various challenges related to social inequalities in different regions, organizations have positioned themselves as potential agents of transformation, driven efforts towards social and environmental causes. This study examines the incorporation of new narratives in organizational communications to help develop a more sustainable and equitable society. As a example, we analyzed Larry Fink's letters to CEOs, which, following a ritualistic structure, have been sent annually since 2012, encouraging long-term governance and sustainability practices and promoting the transition towards stakeholder capitalism. Content analysis of the letters followed Laurence Bardin's manual and was supported by the Iramuteq software. The study also examines how the corporate communication department has become increasingly strategic in contributing to the construction of organizational culture, especially in adapting to the new reality post-adoption of causes. The research seeks to provide insights into how internal cultural change can positively influence the external scenario, contributing to collective transformation even in the face of contradictions between discourse and actions.
