Abstract in English
This research presents a study on German filmmaker Wim Wenders' documentary work, based on the feature films Nick's film (1980), Tokyo-Ga (1985), A trick of light (1995) and Pina (2011). The reference corpus includes the director's other documentaries, while his narrative filmography provides an auxiliary repertoire for specific issues raised during the work. The investigation confirms its three initial hypotheses. First, the development of homage through narrative strategies which perform the affections that mobilize the filmmaker in the course of his contact with the subjects. Secondly, the subjective structure of the reports, around an experiential, memorialistic, and self-reflective ethics. Thirdly, the films' essayistic nature, dedicated to metadiscursive problematizations of cinematographic and documentary discourses, with the support of the recording devices elaborated around each thematic universe. The film analysis, through an immanent approach, considering each work as an autonomous writing, explores how the director develops his footages, the "narrative pacts" involving the staging and self-staging of the subjects, the organization of filmic materials and the expressive dialectics between the filming modalities and the narrative construction of the reports.
