Abstract in English
This work intends to analyze the reason why images of violence cause us a certain aesthetic anesthesia that hinders critical engagement towards these violences. To do so, I start with an analysis of images as a tool of power. Then the Nicholas Mirzoeff concept of visuality was approached, analyzed and debated through the perspective of the communicational instances, a theory postulated by Eugênio Bucci. This percourse comprehends the first and second parts of the present work. The third and fourth parts study the imagetic theories of Norval Baitello Júnior, Hans Belting and Marie-José Mondzain together with aesthetic analyses based on Arnold Berleant and in the concept of sublime by Edmund Burke.
