Abstract in English
Realizing the effervescence of the creation of horror images in cinema in the first two decades of the 21st century, this research focuses on these productions that create from political necessity. Focusing on the Brazilian cinematographic scenario, the research proposes an anachronic montage work in order to understand the necessity of films when they resort to horror sensibilities to produce their meanings. In this way, it establishes a discussion between ways of seeing, making and thinking the images of horror, differentiating them from the poetic tradition of representation. In order to understand the materiality of the aesthetic operations of contemporary horror, three Brazilian short films are the main objects of this analysis: Menino Aranha (2008) by Mariana Lacerda, Estado Itinerante (2016) by Ana Carolina Soares and O delírio é a redenção dos aflitos (2016) by Fellipe Fernandes. Finally, it is sought to show how the contamination of horror is in confluence with a mutation of systems and in the understanding of the work of art and politics as one act.
