Esta pesquisa investiga a Semana de Arte e Ensino, realizada de 15 a 19 de setembro de 1980, na Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (ECA/USP), e busca compreendê-la a partir da história e das memórias de diferentes atores que participaram dela. Realizada após a anistia, ainda no período do regime militar, a Semana de Arte e Ensino teve fundamental importância nos processos de redemocratização do ensino da Arte e representou, um marco histórico de manifestação política e democrática na Arte/Educação, já que discutiu os problemas então enfrentados na área em âmbito nacional. Como objetivo desta investigação, buscamos compreender os aspectos históricos, políticos e formativos que envolveram tanto as diferentes etapas de planejamento quanto a realização mesma do evento e suas reverberações, as quais ocorreram nas frentes de resistência coletiva e como um manifesto à liberdade de ideias. O corpus da investigação, além de entrevistas, foi formado por documentos da época, compostos por notícias de jornais de grande circulação e por diferentes fontes ligadas à Semana. Foram encontradas, ainda, fotos e vídeos inéditos e um jornal elaborado pelos alunos da ECA/USP especialmente para o evento. Quanto às bases conceituais, o trabalho se fundamentou nas discussões propostas por Paulo Freire (1967), no que se refere à educação centrada na liberdade, e por Ana Mae Tavares Bastos Barbosa, que fala em uma liberdade construída prática e teoricamente no período (2018a). Já com relação à temática da memória e da história oral, foram utilizadas as concepções sobretudo de Bosi (1994; 2004), dentre outros. Quanto à metodologia, ela se deu no sentido da análise das fontes mencionadas, sendo realizada de acordo com os pressupostos da Abordagem Triangular de Ana Mae Barbosa. Organizada em eixos temáticos, a Semana contou com conferências, ateliers, debates, cursos, manifestações artísticas que reuniram artistas e intelectuais, como Paulo Freire, Aloísio Magalhães, Noemia Varela, Aracy Amaral, Walter Zanini, Mario Barata, Yan Michalski, Hans J. Koellreuter, Alice Brill, Evandro Carlos Jardim, Maria Duschenes, Ingrid Koudela, Wesley Duke Lee, Marcelo Nitsche, José Miguel Wisnik e Guto Lacaz, para citar alguns dos destaques. Na área de vídeo e televisão, Roberto Sandoval, e o atelier de TV, com a constituição do grupo TVDO, por Tadeu Jungle e Walter Silveira, anunciando, de acordo com Arlindo Machado (2003), a segunda geração de videoartistas do Brasil. De maneira concomitante, acontecia na USP o 1º Congresso da USP que, organizado pela Associação dos Docentes da Universidade de São Paulo (ADUSP), buscava responder a indagação Para onde vai a USP? Neste contexto de mobilização política, teórica e artística, dentre muitos dos desdobramentos do evento, destacamos a criação da Associação dos Arte/Educadores do Estado de São Paulo; a introdução da imagem na sala de aula; e a instituição da linha de pesquisa em Arte/Educação no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Visuais da ECA/USP, a mais antiga do Brasil e locus de formação e multiplicação da área para outras universidades. O estudo evidenciou que as reflexões realizadas durante a Semana repercutiram nas políticas públicas relacionadas à área, do ensino fundamental ao superior, com reflexos também na educação não formal. Além disso, a pesquisa permitiu construir novas proposições sobre a Arte/Educação no Brasil, compreendendo os diálogos estabelecidos no passado como importantes fontes de memória e história para a compreensão da Arte e de seu ensino na atualidade.

In this research we will investigate aspects related to the memory and to the history of the Arts and Education Week that took place in September, 1980, at the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP). Working as a cry for freedom, the Week happened right after the Amnesty, with the revocation of the AI-5 Act, still in the military dictatorship period. Being fundamentally important for the processes of democratization of Art Education, the Week also represented a relevant historical milestone of political and democratic manifestation in Art Education, discussing the problems facing researchers and Art Educators nationally. Organized around thematic axes democratically decided in public meetings the Week offered art workshops, courses, conferences, academic presentations which gathered artists and intellectuals such as Paulo Freire, Noemia Varela, Aloísio Magalhães, Aracy Amaral, Walter Zanini, Mario Barata, Yan Michalski, Hans J. Koellreuter,Alice Brill, Evandro Carlos Jardim, Maria Duschenes, Ingrid Koudela, Wesley Duke Lee, João Luis Lafetá, Marcelo Nitsche, José Miguel Wisnik and Guto Lacaz, to mention but a few. In the field of video and television, there was the VT workshop, wish Roberto Sandoval, and the TV workshop that originated the group TVDO, formed by Tadeu Jungle, Walter Silveira, Ney Marcondes and Paulo Priolli, which planted the seeds for the second generation of videoartists, as Arlindo Machado explained. Concomitantly, was taking place the 1º USP Congress, organized by the Professors Association (ADUSP) and focusing on the question: Where is USP going?. In the context of political, educational, theorical and cultural mobilization, several where the results of the Week, from which we highlight the creation of the Art Educators Association of the State of São Paulo (AESP); the introduction of images in art classes opening the field for post-modernity in Art Education; and the creation of the Art Education research line in the Visual Arts Graduation Program of ECA/USP, this being the first of the country and locus of formation and multiplication in the field for other institutions, public and private ones. Our research was theoretically grounded in aspects of memory and history. As investigation ground, we can mention primary sources about the Week; historical documents and unpublished pictures from the private collection of Ana Mae Tavares Bastos Barbosa; a never seen before video of the TVDO; newspapers articles and semi-structured interviews with participants of the event. Our study intends to contribute with the construction of the memory and the history of Art Education in Brazil. Besides that, the analysis of the democratic foundations from which the Week was built offers several possibilities of resignification of the field today.
