Abstract in English
Arc is the result of a research whose objective is the appropriation of the arc of deforestation as a work of art. The method used is the imagery juxtaposition related to characteristics of the arc and the artistic movements of the 20th century, more specifically the North American land art, the Brazilian concretist avant-gardes and the Latin American conceptual art, and its unfolding in the strategies of contemporary art. The research incorporated chronological crossings between these movements and the most active period of the arc of deforestation, with the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship until the present day. It has also resorted to the history of occupation of the Amazonian territory through approximations with archeology and anthropology. The characteristics of the arc were unfolded in descriptive chapters that contextualize my practice carried out before and during the period of this research.
