Recortes e apagamentos são dois procedimentos que podem integrar o processo de criação pictórica. Nesta pesquisa, as práticas de desenho e pintura são consideradas em uma poética caracterizada pela alternância entre processos positivos e negativos, entre fazer e apagar (aplicar e retirar a tinta, construir e cobrir elementos ou ainda acentuar e rebaixar contrastes e a saturação das cores). Para o estudo dos recortes das imagens, o surgimento da fotografia e o fenômeno do japonismo contextualizam as obras de pintores citados na pesquisa, contemporâneos ao impressionismo e pós-impressionismo: Edgar Degas e Pierre Bonnard se destacam entre eles. Em relação aos apagamentos, a mesma cronologia se repete: pinturas de James McNeill Whistler, Édouard Manet e Maurice Denis são analisadas pelo uso acentuado do preto ou do branco. Para a abordagem dos recortes e apagamentos aplicados nas obras elaboradas durante o processo de pesquisa, os parâmetros de coesão e completude da Gestalt são examinados com base no conceito de informe elaborado por Yve-Alain Bois e Rosalind Krauss.

Cutting and erasing are two procedures that can integrate the process of pictorial creation. In this research, the practices of drawing and painting are considered from the standpoint of a poetics defined by the alternation between positive and negative processes, between doing and undoing (applying and removing paint, building and covering elements, or accentuating and lowering color contrasts and saturations). To study the practice of cutting, the emergence of photography and the phenomenon of Japonism contextualize the works of painters contemporary to Impressionism and Post-impressionism that are cited in the research: Edgar Degas and Pierre Bonnard stand out among them. Regarding erasures, the same chronology is repeated: paintings by James McNeill Whistler, Édouard Manet, and Maurice Denis are analyzed by the accentuated use of black or white. To approach the cuttings and erasures applied to the works elaborated during the research process, the Gestalt parameters of cohesion and completeness are examined based on the concept of formless elaborated by Yve-Alain Bois and Rosalind Krauss.
