Pau-brasil consiste em uma pesquisa prática e teórica, que parte do uso de um material específico, o pau-brasil, como elemento disparador para construção e elaborações de trabalhos em arte, que dialogam com a história da formação nacional e com a estrutura social atual. São abordados alguns pontos históricos, narrados por meio da exploração dessa espécie, a partir das relações econômicas, extrativistas e da exploração de pessoas escravizadas, indígenas e africanas. Essas questões são abordadas por meio de relações de figuras de linguagem, geradas a partir da manipulação do pau-brasil em diálogo com outros materiais e procedimentos diversos. Parte-se do ponto de vista de que repousam sobre essa matéria, de forma imanente, elementos da história social brasileira.

Pau-brasil (brazilwood) consists of a practical and theoretical research, which starts from the use of a specific material, brazilwood, as a triggering element for the construction and elaboration of works in art, which dialogue with the history of national formation and with the current social structure. Some historical points are discussed, narrated through the exploitation of this species, from the economic, extractive relations and the exploitation of enslaved, indigenous and African people. These questions are addressed through figures of speech, generated from the manipulation of pau-brasil in dialogue with other materials and diverse procedures. It starts from the point of view that elements of Brazilian social history rest on this matter, in an immanent way.
