Abstract in English
This work investigates the specific treatment given by Hito Steyerl to contemporary images. Specifically, we will analyze the production from a period that we consider transitional in the artists trajectory, aiming to demonstrate that her texts and works stem from a material organicity between image and circuit and lead to a materialist perspective on their conditions of existence within the framework of late capitalism. Throughout this investigation, we will also highlight the theoretical capacity and the political relevance of a species of critical thinking and language practice that conceives circulation as the fundamental process through which images, in their most historical sense, live in their material presence, technical reproductions, or mnemic persistences. Lastly, we will complement these analyses with an account of a poetic work regarding the complex relationship established between the politics of memory, photogrammetry techniques, and cultural precariousness involved in a concrete case, the burning of the National Museum, as well as an extensive compilation of Hito Steyerls works, texts, and exhibitions.
