Abstract in English
The purpose of this work is to contextualize and conduct research to understand some of the benefits of using the natural trumpet, also known as the Baroque trumpet, recognizing that this instrument is currently composed of those manufactured from 1963 onwards, with 3 or 4 holes or without holes. Baroque period trumpets are difficult to access for several reasons: a) few instruments have survived to this day, b) those that still exist are in museums or private collections, c) almost all of them are located outside of Brazil. The term "Baroque trumpet" encompasses both instruments from the Baroque period and those currently manufactured (with or without holes), representing one of the historical trumpet models. In the first chapter, we describe their specificities and the benefits of their use. Once their characteristics have been presented, the second chapter will make a comparison between the natural trumpet and its modern counterpart, aiming to discuss technical and sonic aspects of both types of instruments. We question how the use of the natural trumpet can assist the modern trumpeter in their artistic, musical, and technical development. Finally, based on this information, the third chapter aims to propose a pedagogical approach for learning the natural trumpet.
