Esta dissertação reúne e discute os principais aspectos formadores da linguagem musical e da obra do multi-instrumentista Sivuca. Ressaltamos sua atuação como ponte entre diversos universos musicais nos quais seu papel como acordeonista e improvisador possui importância fundamental. Muito dessa diversidade se deve ao seu contato com as rádios, o que possibilitou conexões com outros músicos e com atores sociais envolvidos em sua trajetória, em especial o Maestro Guerra-Peixe, em Recife. Sivuca desenvolveu especificidades idiomáticas em sua linguagem por meio da associação dos principais gêneros musicais e dos ritmos com os quais trabalhou, e aos quais nos referimos ao longo deste trabalho, como escolas que desenvolveram sua consciência harmônica e rítmica, além de suas notáveis habilidades como improvisador. Procuramos, por meio da escuta, transcrição e análise de seu repertório, observar os principais recursos técnico-interpretativos utilizados em sua obra, seja como intérprete, compositor ou arranjador, contextualizando a sua práxis.

Abstract in English
This dissertation seeks to gather and discuss the main aspects that shape the musical language and the work of the multi-instrumentalist Sivuca. We emphasize his acting as a bridge between various musical universes where his role as an accordionist and improviser is of fundamental importance. Much of this eclecticism is due to his contact with radios and the connections they opened to him with other musicians and social actors involved in his biography, especially conductor Guerra-Peixe in Recife. Sivuca developed idiomatic specificities in his language through the main musical genres and rhythms associated with which he worked, which we refer to as his schools, developing his harmonic and rhythmic awareness, in addition to his remarkable abilities as an improviser. Through listening, transcription and analysis of his repertoire, we seek to observe the main technical-interpretative resources used in his work, whether as an interpreter, composer or arranger, contextualizing his praxis.
