Abstract in English
This dissertation examines the theatrical work of Carlos Roberto Mantovani (1950- 2003), a multi-artist from the city of Sorocaba who, having worked as a dancer, actor, poet, playwright and visual artist, stood out in the areas of theater direction and training of artists. With the support of the Process Criticism theory, moved by Cecília Almeida Salles, we studied the aspects of his creative process, using photos and videos of the performances as material for analysis, as well as extracts from the memory of several collaborators. Based on the characteristics revealed by the analyzes, we entered the study of memory and transmissibility, supported by the thought of Iuri Lotman (1922-1993) around the notion of cultural text, by the concept of quotation used by Isabelle Launay (2013); and, finally, by the conception of repertoire moved by Diana Taylor (2003). As a way of materializing the studied aesthetics and practical application of the concepts, we produced a short documentary film with recreations of scenes selected from the director's work. It was the intention of this study to bring focus not only to Mantovanis trajectory, but also to the theatrical history of the interior of São Paulo. Thus, contributing to the permanent visibility of this fraction of the interior production, we built, from the documents collected during the research, an online archive with photographic, videographic, dramaturgical and journalistic records of the directors productions.
