Abstract in English
This research provides an analysis of the fixed comical female type characters in the works of playwright Luís Alberto de Abreu within the scope of the Brazilian Popular Comedy Project (Projeto Comédia Popular Brasileira) - Sacra Folia, Burundanga, O anel de Magalão and O Parturião. Such project was the result of a partnership between Abreu and the theatre group Fraternal Companhia de Artes e Malas-Artes; it aims to provide a reinterpretation and contextualization of the type characters from Brazilian popular comedy theatre by bringing back the traditional elements of comedy theatre, such as the type characters from the ancient Italian Commedia dell'arte; it also aims to bring elements of the popular culture to the present time. The study analyzes the author's female type characters in the light of the archetypes that they resemble, as well as the way they are built along the process of dramaturgic and comical construction in the works; it takes shape by means of assessments and comparisons based on concepts of humor and laughter, popular culture, erudite culture and mass culture, the construction of the collective unconscious, as well as of the collective imaginary and of black feminism and femininity that can be found in the works of authors such as Henri Bergson, Mikhail Bakhtin, Alfredo Bosi, Carl G. Jung, Angela Davis, Djamila Ribeiro and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The research features interviews that bring the female place of speech and perspective of the characters, based on the views of actresses Mirtes Nogueira and Keila Redondo, who took part in the project; other sources were used, such as theses, articles and essays that contributed both theoretically and practically to the study so that it could provide characteristics that make it possible to introduce Abreu's female characters to the audience in a way that is as accessible and plausible as contemporary female social types.
