Este trabalho se ocupou em dimensionar a experiência do grupo Teatro Núcleo Independente. O grupo se originou de um Curso de Interpretação ministrado no Teatro de Arena por Heleny Guariba e Cecília Thumin, em 1969. Orientado por Augusto Boal, desenvolveu naquele teatro as pesquisas que deram origem às técnicas do Teatro Jornal, recurso teatral de agitação e mobilização política colocado em prática junto ao movimento estudantil e utilizado na construção do espetáculo Teatro Jornal primeira edição. Com Augusto Boal exilado, o Núcleo assumiu o Teatro de Arena e se tornou sua última equipe criativa, responsável pela montagem do espetáculo Doce América, Latino América. Com a falência do Arena, se torna Grupo Núcleo e migra para o Teatro São Pedro, casa de espetáculos dirigida por Maurício Segall, que tentava criar outro polo de resistência cultural à ditadura em curso no país. No São Pedro o grupo elaborou um projeto de popularização do teatro, baseado na formação de grupos teatrais por meio das técnicas do Teatro Jornal. Já no final de 1973, após divergências criativas e a emergência de uma crise financeira daquela empresa teatral, o grupo deixa o São Pedro, e constitui uma sede própria na periferia, onde trabalha seu intento de popularização do teatro. A fixação num bairro periférico se daria em 1976 com a criação do Teatro Núcleo Independente, na zona leste de São Paulo, onde manteve contato com organismos comunitários e movimentos sociais até o final de 1978. Este estudo procurou apresentar a trajetória do grupo, descrever suas obras e maneiras de se organizar nos diferentes espaços e circunstâncias históricas em que habitou.

This work was concerned with dimensioning the experience of the Teatro Núcleo Independente group. The group originated from an Interpretation Course given at Teatro de Arena by Heleny Guariba and Cecília Thumin, in 1969. Guided by Augusto Boal, developed researches in that theater that gave rise to the techniques of Teatro Jornal, a theatrical resource for agitation and political mobilization put into practice with the student movement and used in the construction of the show Teatro Jornal first edition. With Augusto Boal exiled, the Nucleus took over Teatro de Arena and became its last creative team, responsible for putting together the show Doce América, Latino América. With the bankruptcy of Arena, it becomes Grupo Núcleo and migrates to Teatro São Pedro, a theater run by Maurício Segall, who was trying to create another center of cultural resistance to the ongoing dictatorship in the country. At São Pedro, the group developed a project for the popularization of theater, based on the formation of theater groups through the techniques of Teatro Jornal. At the end of 1973, after creative divergences and the emergence of a financial crisis at that theatrical company, the group left São Pedro, and established its own headquarters in the periphery, where it worked on its intention to popularize the theater. The fixation in a peripheral neighborhood would take place in 1976 with the creation of Teatro Núcleo Independente, in the east side of São Paulo, where it maintained contact with community organizations and social movements until the end of 1978. This study sought to present the group's trajectory, describe its works and ways of organizing in the different spaces and historical circumstances in which he lived.
