Abstract in English
Our goal is to introduce the potential of network models in the context of research in communication studies. This introduction starts with an epistemological debate about the implications of applying mathematical methods in social sciences research. Following, we use the concepts of Topology and Network Formation from Graphs and Game Theory, respectively, in order to present a collection of models with potential applications to the research in the field. By the end, we present an empirical study on innovation diffusion in the context of mobile apps. Overall, our main goal is to present the models, guide its use and bring its applications into a new context.
