A importância e complexidade do bioma Amazônia justifica atenção de pesquisadores brasileiros de diversas regiões, e o conhecimento científico permite assegurar sua soberania. Isto porque conhecer a biodiversidade dessa região é conhecer a própria Amazônia, explicando a concentração de docentes e programas de pós-graduação altamente especializados na região. Motivado por essa realidade, buscou-se conhecer a produção científica sobre a Amazônia e a infraestrutura de pesquisa da área de biodiversidade. Para tanto, o estudo adotou a abordagem bibliométrica, a partir de dados curriculares dos docentes credenciados nos programas de pós-graduação da área de Biodiversidade. Foram considerados os registros de artigos em periódicos científicos no período de 2010-2019. Identificando os títulos de artigos que continham variantes do termo Amazônia, pôde-se estabelecer um índice de especialidade no assunto, que permitiu o ranqueamento e seleção de 17 programas mais especializados, cuja produção subsidiou as análises mais aprofundadas. Identificou-se que os programas da região são os que mais mencionam o assunto Amazônia, e que um programa do Mato Grosso adere a esse grupo. Sua produção posiciona esse grupo de docentes e programas em posição central na rede de coautoria, assim como revela uma gama de conexões com docentes e programas de praticamente todas as unidades da federação, e mais intensamente com as regiões Centro-Oeste, Nordeste e Sudeste. Sua produção é publicada majoritariamente em periódicos indexados na Scopus/WoS, representando 82% quando menciona a Amazônia e 77% quando não menciona; enquanto que na SciELO esses percentuais são, respectivamente, 16% e 19%. Distribui-se em cerca de 300 periódicos Scopus/WoS na primeira metade do período, dispersando para mais de 400 na segunda; enquanto na SciELO esse montante é de 51 e 54 periódicos, respectivamente. Prioriza periódicos editados no Reino Unido, Estados Unidos, Alemanha e Países Baixos.

The importance and complexity of the Amazon biome justifies the attention of Brazilian researchers from several regions, and scientific knowledge allows ensuring its sovereignty. This is because knowing the biodiversity of this region is to know the Amazon itself, explaining the concentration of highly specialized professors and graduate programs in the region. Motivated by this reality, we sought to know the scientific production on the Amazon and the research infrastructure in the area of biodiversity. For this purpose, the study adopted the bibliometric approach, from curricular data of the accredited professors in graduate programs in the area of Biodiversity. The registers of articles in scientific journals in the period 2010-2019 were considered. By identifying the titles of articles that contained variants of the term Amazon, it was possible to establish a specialty index on the subject, which allowed the ranking and selection of 17 more specialized programs, whose production subsidized the further analysis. It was identified that the programs of the region are the ones that most mention the subject Amazonia, and that one program from Mato Grosso joins this group. Its production places this group of professors and programs in a central position in the network of co-authorship, as well as revealing a range of connections with professors and programs from practically all units of the federation, and more intensely with the Center-West, Northeast and Southeast regions. Its production is mostly published in journals indexed in Scopus/WoS, representing 82% when it mentions the Amazon and 77% when it does not mention it; while in SciELO these percentages are, respectively, 16% and 19%. It is distributed in about 300 Scopus/WoS journals in the first half of the period, dispersing to more than 400 in the second half; while in SciELO this amount is 51 and 54 journals, respectively. Priority is given to journals published in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and the Netherlands.
