O estudo trata das informações necessárias para a formação da decisão dos produtores de soja do Cone Sul de Rondônia sobre o plantio de soja e outras culturas no ano agrícola, visando a desejável sustentabilidade empresarial por vários anos. A pesquisa é de natureza exploratória, com abordagem qualitativa e método de investigação indutivo. As variáveis estudadas foram: necessidade, busca e uso de informação pelos produtores de soja. Trabalhou-se com a hipótese deque os produtores de soja do Cone Sul de Rondônia necessitam de informações com características espaço-temporal, atualizadas e qualificadas, mas não disponíveis de forma institucionalizada e por isso dependem de gatekeepers, sendo que os pequenos produtores têm mais dificuldade de acesso às informações qualificadas e dependem de contatos pessoais e informais. Resultados confirmaram parcialmente as hipóteses e revelam que os produtores de soja têm clareza quanto à sua necessidade de informação para resolver problemas nos processos de plantio, cultivo, colheita, armazenagem e venda dos grãos resultantes da sua produção agrícola anual, mas não têm a mesma clareza quanto à busca de informação e ao potencial de uso das informações para planejamento de futuros anos agrícolas. Como resultado principal apresenta-se a "Matriz informacional para a formação de decisão sobre plantio de soja e outras culturas no ano agrícola", uma representação qualitativa dos recursos informacionais necessários e disponíveis para a tomada de decisão dos produtores de soja do Cone Sul de Rondônia.

The study deals with the information necessary for the decision-making of soybean producers in the Southern Cone of Rondônia on the planting of soybean and other agricultural crops in the agricultural year, aiming at the desirable business sustainability for several years. The research is exploratory in nature, with a qualitative approach and an inductive investigation method. The variables studied were: need, search and use of information by soy producers. We worked with the hypothesis that soybean producers in the Southern Cone of Rondônia need information with spatio-temporal characteristics, updated and qualified, but not available in an institutionalized way and, therefore, they depend on gatekeepers, with small producers having more difficulty in accessing qualified information and rely on personal and informal contacts. Results partially confirmed the hypotheses and reveal that soy producers are clear about their need for information to solve problems in the planting, cultivation, harvesting, storage and sale of grains resulting from their annual agricultural production, but they are not as clear, regarding the search for information and the potential use of information for planning future agricultural years. As a main result, the "Informational Matrix for decision making on planting soybean and other agricultural crops in the agricultural year" is presented, a qualitative representation of the informational resources needed and available for decision making by soybean producers in the Southern Cone of Rondônia.
