Keywords in Portuguese
Força Jovem Universal
Igrejas evangélicas

Neoliberalismo
Neopentecostalismo

Abstract in English
The growth of evangelical churches of the so-called third wave Pentecostal (or neo- Pentecostal) is not a recent issue. Since 1970, many researchers have studied Brazil to understand this phenomenon, which has become more complex and rooted in the Brazilian historical formation. In their dispute to increase the number of members, evangelical churches have invested more in youth engagement strategies. The purpose of this research was to understand the mechanism of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (IURD), in its physical, digital and ideological extension. The methodology consisted of participating in live virtual meetings of the Universal Youth Force, in addition to monitoring the interactions of young people during the meetings and published posts in other digital events held by the church. The media production of the IURD and the rich bibliography in this field were important complementary sources. The dissertation explores the structural and conjunctural components of the Pentecostal phenomenon and its articulation with neoliberalism. It also investigates the functioning of the IURD: how its presence is spreaded in the city of São Paulo and the use of digital platforms to promote the circulation of information. Considering the relationship between the Universal Youth Force and the social and cultural practices of young people especially the low-income ones it is evident that neo-Pentecostal religious spaces have been responding to contemporary youth demands, while creating or deepening other issues.
