Abstract in English
The research analyzes the memory and identity of the Municipal Band of Peruíbe and the Municipal School of Music of Peruíbe/SP, aiming to study the formation of this cultural heritage and the importance of its integration with society. The study makes a historical survey of the physical and social singularities of the city and describes the gradual institutionalization of these cultural facilities from the 1930s onwards. This is a qualitative research (Flick, 2009) that uses the narrative interview method (Santos, Bertolin, Alcará, 2019) as one of the information collection tools. Using an interdisciplinary approach with elements of Social Memory (Pollack, 1992; Coelho, 1997; Bosi, 1993; Santos, 2002), Music (Zumthor, 2018; Schafer, 2011) and Information Science, the study covers concepts of memory, identity and cultural heritage together with assumptions of Information Science. The results suggest the importance of the Band and the Music School for the personal life of the interviewees and for the city of Peruíbe, which indicates the relevance of the set of activities and historical experiences that permeated the different temporalities that forged this cultural heritage.
