Abstract in English
The act of sectioning the teeth is defined as odontosectioning. Its function is to reduce resistance, facilitating tooth extraction. If, on the one hand, this allows for a faster and less traumatic surgery, on the other hand, it raises concern, since the use of rotary instruments can produce locally capable of impairing the repair of adjacent tissues. Temperature variation during surgery is due to the shape and size of the cutting tip, time, the movement performed, pressure and the equipment used. In view of this, the objective of this study was to evaluate the time and temperature variation during the dental section procedure with different instruments, in an exhibition of swine teeth. For this, 20 teeth were sectioned with each instrument, namely: carbide drill 702, Zecrya drill, diamond tip 4138 and piezoelectric tip OSTEO 01. Time was measured using a stopwatch and temperature was measured using associated thermocouple devices to their portable digital thermometers. The thermometers were fixed intraosseously at a lateral distance of approximately 2.5 mm from the tooth, with a depth of 4 mm. The initial temperature and the maximum temperature were recorded during the procedure. The results revealed an average temperature variation and standard deviation of 1.15°C+0.5 for the 702 carbide drill, 1.60°C+0.67 for the Zekrya carbide drill, 2.10°C+0, 96 for the 4138 diamond tip and 5.23°C +1.82 for the OSTEO 01 piezoelectric tip. The average time required to perform the odontsection was 38s for Carbide 702 and Carbide Zekrya, 48s for the 4138 diamond tip and 285s for the piezoelectric OSTEO 1 tip. The data obtained were tabulated and admitted to statistical analysis using the ANOVA variance tests (p<0.05) and the conventional variance was corrected for the time variable using the ANCOVA test (p<0.05). There was a significant difference in temperature variation between the piezoelectric tip and the other three elements. The results show the direct relationship between time and temperature, where the instruments that have reduced time produced less heat and, consequently, a lower temperature variation.
