Abstract in English
Introduction: Pulpectomy in deciduous teeth is one of the main procedures performed in Pediatric Dentistry to address infectious processes in cases of irreversible pulpitis and necrosis. Debris removal through instrumentation is an essential step, and advancements in materials and techniques have been developed. Objective: To compare the time, canal transportation, remaining resin quantity, and volume among manual file (K), nickel-titanium manual file (SMF), rotary file for deciduous teeth (SBF), and reciprocating file (WOG). Methodology: 40 prototype deciduous molars divided into 4 groups were instrumented by a single operator according to the file type. For comparative analyses, the teeth were scanned before and after instrumentation using micro-computed tomography (micro CT), and their images were superimposed to collect data through specific software. Results: Mechanized groups showed reduced time compared to manual groups (p0.005). In canal transportation, the WOG group exhibited greater deviation compared to the other groups (p=0.002). The remaining resin quantity in the SBF group was the highest among the groups (p=0.008), and regarding the thirds, all groups showed statistically significant differences between apical and cervical thirds (p=0.008), although no differences in volume among the groups were observed (p0.005). Conclusions: NiTi files are a viable alternative for pulpectomy in deciduous teeth, providing efficient treatment in reduced time.
