O objetivo deste estudo foi traduzir e adaptar transculturalmente os formulários de aplicação do Collaborative Model for Promoting Competence and Success for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (COMPASS) para o português brasileiro (PB). Cumpriram-se os aspectos éticos (CAEE: 66897617.0.0000.5417). Utilizou-se etapas e princípios da metodologia padrão ouro proposta pela American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons Outcomes Committee: Tradução da versão original (VO) para o PB por um tradutor nativo do idioma PB e fluente no idioma original do COMPASS; retrotradução (RT) da versão PB para a VO por um tradutor distinto, nativo do idioma PB e fluente no idioma inglês, para verificar a acurácia da versão PB; análise da RT e VO para averiguar a incidência de convergência (CO), divergência mínima (DM) e divergência de significado (DS) para verificar a qualidade da tradução; análise e adaptação transcultural, considerando equivalências semânticas, conceituais, idiomáticas e experienciais, da versão PB por um comitê de especialistas (CE); verificação da usabilidade do COMPASS por meio de aplicação de questionário junto à 12 professoras da classe comum e duas professoras atuantes no atendimento educacional especializado de duas diferentes escolas municipais de Bauru; envio de todo o material para a autora do COMPASS original para ciência e verificação do processo. Foram traduzidos e retrotraduzidos do inglês para o PB e vice-versa 24 formulários de aplicação contendo 1372 itens, compreendendo palavras/frases/parágrafos. Ao comparar RT/VO, foram encontrados 0,6% de DS (9 itens), 47,9% de DM (657 itens) e 51,5% de CO (706 itens). Não foram encontradas inconsistências graves na tradução, indicando a qualidade do processo metodológico. O CE realizou 97 equivalências, 43 equivalências semânticas e 54 conceituais. Nenhum item precisou ser removido do processo por incompatibilidade ou alteração de conteúdo e adequações mínimas foram realizadas. Referente à usabilidade do COMPASS, as docentes, em sua maioria, responderam acreditar na alta e ou média usabilidade do COMPASS a nível nacional e municipal, indicando a potencialidade deste modelo para o cenário educacional brasileiro. O material produzido durante o processo de tradução e adaptação transcultural do COMPASS para o PB foi enviado para a autora do COMPASS. A autora do COMPASS acusou recebimento do material, no entanto, não pode realizar a verificação do processo de tradução e adaptação transcultural do COMPASS. As professoras revelaram acreditar que o COMPASS pode corroborar para um ensino mais eficaz dos aprendizes com TEA, bem como revelaram acreditar na alta ou média usabilidade deste modelo a nível nacional e municipal. Os 24 formulários de aplicação do COMPASS foram traduzidos do idioma original inglês para o idioma português brasileiro com 99,4% de fidedignidade. Seguindo metodologia rigorosa, o CE realizou a adaptação transcultural com manutenção das equivalências semântica, conceitual, idiomática e experiencial, realizando 97 equivalências semânticas e conceituais, no total.

The aim of this study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the application forms of the Collaborative Model for Promoting Competence and Success for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (COMPASS) into Brazilian Portuguese (BP). Ethical aspects were followed (CAEE: 66897617.0.0000.5417). Steps and principles of the gold standard methodology proposed by the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons Outcomes Committee were used: Translation of the original version (VO) into PB by a native translator of the BP language and fluent in the original language of COMPASS; back-translation (BT) of the BP version to the OV by a distinct translator, native of the BP language and fluent in the English language, to verify the accuracy of the BP version; analysis of BT and OV to ascertain the incidence of convergence (CO), minimum divergence (MD) and divergence of meaning (DM) to verify the quality of the translation; cross-cultural analysis and adaptation, considering semantic, conceptual, idiomatic and experiential equivalences, of the BP version by a committee of experts (CE); verification of the COMPASS usability through the application of a questionnaire with 12 teachers of the regular class and two teachers working in the specialized educational assistance of two different municipal schools in Bauru; sending of all material to the original COMPASS author for verification of the process performed. Twenty-four application forms containing 1372 items, comprising words/phrases/paragraphs, were translated and back-translated from English to BP and vice versa. When comparing BT / OV, 0.6% of DM (9 items), 47.9% of MD (657 items), and 51.5% of CO (706 items) were found. No serious inconsistencies were found in the translation, indicating the quality of the methodological process. The CE performed 97 equivalences, 43 semantic, and 54 conceptual. No items needed to be removed from the process due to incompatibility or content changes and minimal adjustments were made. Regarding the usability of COMPASS, the majority of teachers believe in the high and / or medium usability of COMPASS at national and municipal level, indicating the potential of this model for the Brazilian educational scenario. The material produced during the translation and cross-cultural adaptation process from COMPASS to BP was sent to the COMPASS author. The COMPASS author acknowledged receipt of the material, however, she cannot verify the translation and cross-cultural adaptation of COMPASS. The teachers revealed that they believe that COMPASS can corroborate for a more effective teaching of apprentices with ASD, as well as they showed that they believe in the high or medium usability of this model at national and municipal level. The 24 COMPASS application forms were translated from the original English language into the Brazilian Portuguese language with 99.4% of reliability. Following a strict methodology, the CE performed the cross-cultural adaptation with the maintenance of semantic, conceptual, idiomatic, and experiential equivalences, making 97 semantic and conceptual equivalences in total.
