Abstract in English
This study comparatively evaluated the evolution phenomena of the process of repairs in rat filled alveoli after dental extraction, with biomaterials such as microgranular (2,25-1,00mm) inorganic bovine medullar bone, and dense microgranular (0,25-1,00mm) synthetic BTCP hydroxyapatite, at the rate of 70% of HA and 30% of BTCP. Forty-eight rats were divided in 3 groups: 12 rats in group I (control), whose blood clot served as control; 18 rats in group II (experimental) that received the microgranular inorganic bovine bone implant and 18 rats in group III (experimental) with microgranular implant of hydroxyapatite followed by suture. Animals were killed 7, 15, and 30 days after surgery and the right hemimaxilla containing the dental alveolus in study was removed. The pieces were demineralized in EDTA, processed and inserted in paraffin. Slots of 6µm of width were obtained and dyed with hematoxylin and eosin. Descriptive and quantitative microscopic analyses were done based on the following criteria: inflammatory infiltration, fibroblastic density, angioblastic density and bone neo-formation. Results were submitted to Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn statistic tests and demonstrated that HA- BTCP and the inorganic bovine medullar bone present similar performance in terms of bonefilling and osteoconduction functions in the process of alveolar repair in the time spans of 7, 15, and 30 days.
