Abstract in English
The vertical dimension of oclussion obtained by Tamaki’s and Beresin & Schiesser’s methods and the height of the complete dentures used by the patiens were obtained in a 30 edentulous persons sample with ages ranging from 38 to 77 years old, that had been wearing superior and inferior complete dentures for at least 5 years, in hose residual ridges were clinically favorable, and showing normal mandibular movements and absence of temporomandibular disordens. The purpose of this study was comparing the values obteined in each of the tested methods and correlating them with the heights taken of the dentures usedby the patients. As so checking the correspondence grade existing in each one. The results showed that: 1) There was statistically significant difference when comparing the values obteined in the two methods; being that there was a great correlation between these values to the leve of 0,01 %; 2) When comparing Tamaki’s and Beresin & Schiesser’s methods in relation to the heights of dentures used, a positiver medium difference could be observed, of 3.02mm and 4.40mm respectively.
