Abstract in English
The use of substances to improve sports practice or work perfomance, goes back to its own history, since even in the first Olympics in Greece, the use of medicine to improve athletes' achievement was tolerated while other types of cheating were punished with slavery. Our modern days are of mass consumption of sports and huge financial volumes as in the entertainment industry. Trying to keep a competition as fair as possible, many organizations created more and more strict rules to preserve athletes' health and prevent cheating by taking prohibited substances. Bearing this in mind, dental surgeons have to be prepared to meet the needs of patients without compromising their professional life in sports, aiming to provide them with the best possible care. In this paper, we will study the chemical modification of drugs within an organism, considering drugs that are not described in anti-doping guides but could cause one to fail doping tests. The focus will be on dental specialties as Dental Surgery, Periodontics, Implantology, Endodontics, Dentistics, Orofacial Harmonization and General Practice.
