Prótese Nasal

Nasal prosthesis
Abstract in English
Nasal prosthesis is a modality of facial prosthesis which consists in the alloplastic or artificial repair of total or partial loss of the nasal appendix. The Maxillofacial prosthodontist is required to have fully developed artistic and technical skills in order to achieve an aesthetically realistic result. Thus, the production of a nasal prosthesis may take several hours of work. This study has made use of artificial intelligence (AI) as an alternative to facilitate and accelerate its process of making. Through an image database of individuals without nasal loss, the developed AI algorithm establishes an appropriate and individualized geometric model for nasal prostheses, considering the facial particularities of each patient. Results revealed that the collected data and its algorithmic application were capable of generating two-dimensional models, which can then be converted into realistic three-dimensional printable models. In conclusion, this study maintains that the use of AI significantly improves the process of nasal prosthesis production.
